Truth, Justice, Freedom, Reasonably Priced Love, and a Hard-Boiled Egg!

You know how it is; you don't get a geeky holiday for ages, then three come at once.

Glorious 25th Of May
Referencing The People's Revolution of the Glorious Twenty-Fifth of May from Terry Pratchett's Discworld, today has been co-opted as a platform for raising awareness of and to support research into Altzheimer's disease. It is traditional to wear lilac today, or carry an actual lilac. And, affectionately, a hard boiled egg. I don't have any lilac clothes or, for that matter, lilacs. So I'm making do with a lilac background.

Towel Day
Today is also used to commemorate Douglas Adams, author, of course, of the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, amongst other wondrous things. To quote the 'guide:

any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still knows where his towel is, is clearly a man to be reckoned with.

Geek Pride Day
Intended to co-incide with the 1977 release of Star Wars, today is a day to be proud to be a geek of whatever variety you happen to be. Embrace your geekiness, for with it you shall have many fun times and no shortage of exciting things to get needlessly obsessed about.
